Prof. Ma is the current director of Orthopedic Surgery Center and spine surgery in the 39th Hospital of Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Engaged in orthopedic clinical and research work of more than 30 years, Prof. Ma is experienced in in the field of spine surgery, such as the individualized treatment of spinal tuberculosis, the ladder-like treatment of spinal degenerative disease, spondylolisthesis, spinal non-fusion technology applications.

Prof. Ma is one of the pioneers who applied the internal fixation methods to the field of spinal tuberculosis. He is also one of the pioneers in the field of the comprehensive prevention and control of osteoporosis, being the first one to carry out the ideas on the integration of internal and external medicine in orthopedics, the integration of surgery and recovery, the integration of doctors, nurses and patients, the integration of traditional Chinese Medicine and western medicine. Prof. Ma is the founder of osteoporosis health club with near 2,000 members. The osteoporosis health club gives lessons about osteoporosis regularly, which is widely appreciated by the public. 

In addition of clinical achievement, Prof. Ma is also very active in the publication. He has published over 130 papers, edited and co-edited monographs. Prof. Ma is the chief editor of the Medical Reference in Orthopedics, which was founded to widespread the advances on osteoporosis and provide a platform for academic communication. Besides, Prof. Ma also serves as the associate editor of Chinese Journal of Osteoporosis and the member of editorial board of over 10 journals.
