Dr. Chai is Director of Burns Institute of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and Director of Hospital of Burn and Plastic Surgery, PLA General Hospital. Dr. Chai is Professor of Surgery, Nankai University in Tianjing and Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is also President of Burn and Trauma Repair Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Committee and member of International Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Chai received his MD in clinical surgery from PLA Burns Institute in 1988 and received his PhD in New York State University in 1997. Dr. Chai’s research interests are the treatment of severe burn injury, multiple trauma and their complications, wound healing and tissue repair for severe tissue damage, development of tissue-engineered skin substitute. 

Dr. Chai is Associate Editor-in-Chief of Medical Journal of the People’s Liberation Army. He is also editorial board member or guest editor of more than 20 journals, such as Journal of Chinese Medical Association, Chinese Journal of General Surgery, Journal of Geriatric Diseases of Multiple Organs, etc.. Dr. Chai has been awarded research grants for more than 17 projects and has won many awards in Military Clinical Medicine and Advancement of Science and Technology.
